Establishing the baseline!
Hello friends!
Coming at you from an Amtrak for this post (or at least at time of drafting it, haha).

First, thank you all for deciding to join me on this little journey. Social media has become increasingly unreliable as to what platform will stand the tests of time, so trying to expand my forms of outreach seemed sort of necessary.
As I said in the welcome / introduction post, this is going to be a space to talk about projects that I’m currently juggling, as well as your run-of-the-queer-mill blog posts and musings. The world is… not great these days. Writing and storytelling have been my outlets for processing the world, so it feels like the right time to kick that habit up again.

Progress Updates
As it is with any creative person, I have an indefinite number of projects I’m juggling all at the same time, so I wanted to give a quick breakdown of what I’ve been working on, and where things are at!
The QueerXP
We are presently in Season THREE of The QueerXP, and it has been an on-going journey since it launched almost 2 years ago. In February, we will hit our 100TH EPISODE, which is completely wild to think we’ve already put out a hundred episodes on this podcast. Upcoming Episodes:
Monday, December 9th - Nancy Druid from 9th Level Games
Monday, December 16th - Life & (Un)Death in the Office by Rev Casey
Thursday, December 19th - Level Up, featuring cast members from our December games!
January Winter Break!
We ran a panel at PAX Unplugged, “From Demon Twinks to Lip Syncs: The Importance of Queer Storytelling,” and we had such a great turnout and amazing panelists to join us!

Additionally, I ran yet another one-shot of Moonlight on Roseville Beach, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite games to run for folks!

Upcoming Tabletop Events (not associated with TheQueerXP):
December 15th, Moonlight on Roseville Beach 8pm Eastern, w/Diversity Saves (twitch.tv/diversitysaves)
December 16th, Damn the Man! Save the Music! w/Side Quest Books & Games (SOLD OUT)
January 30th, Moonlight on Roseville Beach 7pm Eastern, w/Boston Gaymers Club Cafe Boston; an all-drag live play! Tickets going fast! $10 + Fees Buy Here
Tabletop Game Design
This year I launched my first two products on Itch.io! I’m finishing up a third at the moment, and it should be available in January 2025 for purchase. Here’s what you can find so far:
Shady Vines Villages: A Monster of the Week setting and mystery pack! Explore Shady Vines Villages, discover mystical and occult locations, and maybe smooch a villager or two! ($5)
F.L.A.M.E Agents: Taking inspiration from Netflix’s Q-Force, this game is built on the CHARGE system (Forged in the Dark-lite), using a simple d6 dice pool mechanic. Play as queer super agents taking down all sorts of big bads! ($10)
IN PROGRESS: The Final Queers is a Powered by the Apocalypse inspired TTRPG focusing on the queer horror of it all. With 10 fully flushed out playbooks at your disposal, a pre-made world, and several villain options, this game can be ready to play with minimal prep or can be your own world and campaign! There are modes of play for one-shots, short adventures, and longer campaigns. ($15) Releasing in January 2025. Here’s a little sneak peak:

Writing Updates
As you can assume, when you have this many plates spinning all at once, something ends up taking a backseat.
Well.
You’ve found the backseat.

I have so many drafts of things, and so many new ideas percolating in my brain. I was querying my manuscript from my MFA program, but the world has changed so dramatically from when I first started writing it that it no longer feels like it is saying what I want to say.
So where does this put my writing projects? Let’s do a quick overview!
Fire Power (MFA manuscript): Pausing. The idea is there, but the voice isn’t.
Untitled NaNo 2019 Project: Editing. This is a high fantasy story, and I really love the world building I was able to pull of. It’s a multi-POV story about possibly the end of the world…
Prophecy Girl (NaNo 2018 Project): Editing. Another high-fantasy story about finding your voice and your power in the world. It’s a complete first draft, but absolutely needs a LOT of editing.
Variety of half-finished / abandoned projects: Reassessing. I have a lot of interesting starting points of stories, but they were never finished. It’s a mix of losing motivation and the story slowly unraveling itself to where I wrote myself in a weird corner. As a “pantser” (someone who writes without much of an outline), this is a marginally common experience… whoops.
On-Deck for 2025 and Beyond:
January Writing Challenge: In the wake of some less than ideal incidents involving NaNoWriMo, a group of us have decided to forego the normal November writing month, and we are doing our own January Writing Challenge! I will be attempting to outline and draft a story in that time.
Yes. I know I have a list of unfinished manuscripts I could be working.
No, I’m not going to work on them yet.
You’re not the boss of me!
The Final Queers premier! I will be dropping this on Itch in early January, and we will be recording an actual play of it for The QueerXP! The episode will be our season 3 finale, dropping in May!
PAX East & More! I will be continuing to explore opportunities to connect with both the tabletop and the writing worlds! PAX East in May will hopefully have me running some games in the PTI Lounge once again! Will be looking for more conventions, writing retreats, and the like in order to keep plugging away at things!
Blog Posts! I fell off of these a while ago, but I want to get back into more consistent writing and offering up thoughts as our world continues to burn down around us.
I’m turning 4-0! Not to do with anything else in the newsletter, but I’m turning 40 in February, which is kind of awesome!
Thank you!
