2026: New Year, New Newsletter

Back to the Start

Hello friends and readers! It has been basically a year since I last wrote a newsletter. A lot has happened in a year, and at the same time, I feel like nothing has happened at all. I’ll explain.

Last newsletter I talked about a lot of writing projects that I was working on, and I had lofty dreams and aspirations for getting a lot done in 2025. Sadly, The status of most of those project has remained stagnant. This year had a lot of unexpected curve balls, including: 1) having to find a new apartment when the landlord unexpectedly sold our unit, 2) some on-going health issues, 3) the general state of the world wearing on us all, and 4) simply biting off more I can chew at times.

However, I’m back. I am ready. I’m diving headfirst back into the work. This newsletter is going to be my way to provide people updates on where things are, as well as an accountability tool for myself. Once a month, I will give you all updates on the state of things!

Superhero Project | Drafted | Reverse Outline

This has been my on-going passion project for many years. I drafted it, revised it, and thought I was done with it. However, as the world has changed since its first draft, it is time to revisit and revise one more time before taking it back out to query.

What I intend to do?

This story is all about queer rage against an oppressive government. However, the world is a lot darker now, and we are all a lot angrier than when this was first drafted. I intend to amp all of that up. To do this, I need to really map out where this book is currently at and what parts need my attention.

What’s it about?

Think Heroes but gayer. A queer college senior who has a gift he wants to return. His best friend who wants nothing more than to protect her friends, and a drag queen who wants to change the world, one flame at a time.

Dystopian Project | Planning | Pre-writing work

A second project I have been kicking around in my brain for a minute. It will fall more in a cyberpunk setting and vibe, with a trans protagonist who is tired of only being able to barely survive in a world that wishes them dead.

What I intend to do?

Right now I have the loose idea of a story. I want to see where this road takes me. There feels like some overlaps already with the Superhero story, so I want to explore and see if there is something here that really sets it apart and makes it special.

This means doing an outline, character sketches, and some world-building. For anyone who knows me, this is counter to my “fuck it, I’ll just write and see what happens” mentality. However, I’m going to try!

The Final Queers | Pitched | Layout Template

The Final Queers is my hefty TTRPG project that has been so close to being done for about a year now. I have pitched it to a decently known publishing company, and while it feels like a bit of a long shot, it felt good to submit it.

What I intend to do?

While I wait for an answer, I am going to work on getting the layout set up for the book. If I get a ‘no,’ then I want to be ready to put it out on my Itch Store for release. If I get a ‘yes,’ then the worst thing to happen is I taught myself Affinity Publisher and have some experience.

Wrapping Up

Moving forward, I would like to do this update letter about once a month. It is going out mid-January now, so I’m going to aim for it to be an end of the month update. I’ll share status reports on my projects, share some things I’m leaning along the way, and just hold myself accountable to do what I say I’m going to do.

My ambitious goal is to do other newsletters as well, more blog style things talking about my thoughts, but for now, I’m keeping it simple.

Thanks for staying to the end of this, and I hope folks find this interesting and maybe even helpful in your own writing!
